Roman Steps – The Map of my Route

October 29, 2014 By Keith Foskett 3 Comments

Since my last blog post on my historic walking route around the South Downs, I’ve received a number of emails asking for a map of the route, so here it is.

The route is 8.9 miles long. For most of you, that would equate to about three hours of actual walking, call it four hours when you factor in your breaks. Perfect for a Sunday afternoon, or even better, if you like it quiet, try it in the middle of the week.

Stane Street, the old Roman road, is clearly marked by name and it’s just to the left of where the figure of eight intersects about halfway around.

Whiteways car park at the start has an excellent cafe for your pre-walk espresso, and obviously something more substantial when you get back. Sadly, there’s no chance of refreshment on the route except what you take.

Enjoy!
