A few weeks ago I, and a few other outdoor writers and bloggers, received an email from Field and Trek, one of the biggest outdoor gear retailers in the UK. They wanted to showcase some of the best walks in the UK. Instead of picking up the nearest guidebook, as most of us may do, they took the initiative to get us involved and hopefully showcase some routes that people may not be aware of.
One of The Seven Sisters – My favourite walk
The results were a wonderful array of unique and lesser known walks dotted around the UK, portrayed by those writers and bloggers who know them intimately because they either live in the vicinity, or are familiar with the area due to several visits.
My offering was a circular route starting at Alfriston in West Sussex, heading south to the coast, bumping up and down the white cliffs known as the Seven Sisters, then bending back to Alfriston through a mix of woodland and open spaces. It’s my favourite route because it has a little of everything, eye opening views, changing landscapes and it’s length and terrain make me feel like I’ve put in a good shift in the shoes.

Their favourite routes covered England, Wales, Scotland and Ireland and gave us some real gems.

Congratulations to Phil Sorrell on what looks like one of his secret walks revealed around The Beacons National Park in Wales. The 10 mile route looks like a classic loop in the heart of waterfall country.
