Crikey, didn’t see that one coming! A couple of weeks ago I received an email from Matthew at Go Outdoors saying they had shortlisted my blog for their Walking Blog 2014 Awards. I was in some pretty esteemed company, namely:
baldhiker.com
walksandwalking.com
christownsendoutdoors.com
naturalnavigator.com
philsorrell.com
summitandvalley.com
petesy.co.uk
lonewalker.walkingplaces.co.uk
alansloman.blogspot.co.uk
hillplodder.wordpress.com
thegirloutdoors.co.uk
selfpowered.net
amountainhigh.blogspot.co.uk
londonbackpackers.blogspot.co.uk
Most of these fellow bloggers I know, at least in cyberspace. Take a look at what they are doing, there’s some great content up there. I wasn’t too hopeful but after Matthew emailed me a couple of days ago to say I’d won, I was chuffed.
Go Outdoors is an outdoor gear supplier based on the web but they also have stores dotted around the UK. Their selling point is a discount card which costs £5.00 and provides a decent cut on everything they sell. They’ve got some big name brands at very attractive prices.
Also I need to thanks to David Taylor at West Sussex Websites. It’s not all about content, during the past few months he has been tweaking the design, layout and appearance of the website. He’s doing a sterling job.
Blogging is a solitary pastime, sometimes I’d rather be doing something else but in the main I love it. The rate in which blogs have taken off in the last few years is testament to a growing audience in this area. It gives me, and others, the chance to voice our opinions, share our love of the outdoors and our adventures. Blogging is a wonderful medium that has rocketed in popularity, creating a community for those who want to tell the world what a great place our outdoor spaces are.
Many, many thanks to everyone who voted for me.
